What are Orthopedic Injections?
Rooted in regenerative medicine, Orthopedic injections are designed to address injuries, degenerative conditions and chronic pain through treatments that stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms. Orthopedic injections are a key facet of interventional orthopedics, as it often offers an effective alternative to high-risk surgical treatments.
To fully address each patient’s unique needs, SageMED offers three types of orthopedic injections: Prolotherapy, PRP, and Orthobiologic Stem Cell Injections.
-
Prolotherapy
Prolotherapy is a regenerative injection treatment designed to joint and soft tissue (ligament/tendon) pain. Modern prolotherapy has been in use since the 1930’s, and is one of the foundational treatments in regenerative medicine.
-
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
PRP injections harness the body’s natural healing cascade to stimulate tissue repair and growth. PRP injections are an evidence-based non-surgical treatment that can effectively address a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.
-
Orthobiologic Stem Cell Injections
Orthobiologic Injection Therapy, popularly called “Stem Cell” Therapy, is an emerging science that continues to be highly effective in treating joints with significant arthritis. These “stem cells” are actually derived from fat in the body.
What Patients Are Saying
“After two years of dealing with a knee injury and arthritic pain after a meniscus tear, I finally sought PRP treatment from Dr. Wheeler. After one injection I felt so much better. Finally some relief. The professionalism and care here is so much better than the orthopedic surgeon I met with before. I’m thrilled I found this practice.”

“I've been in great care with doctors Asadi and Bhandari, treating a debilitating shoulder injury. Along with physical therapy from PTs [physical therapists] Dr. Kim and Dr. Whitefield; I have experienced great results! Thank you SageMED!”
— E.
“[I] was looking for a naturopathic doctor that could work on acute pain for an athlete partaking in elite fitness such as triathlon and crossfit. I initially had some prolotherapy and standard trigger point injection work and was pleasantly surprised. Problems I've had for years on my shoulder and back were kept at bay to a minimum, and [offered] a better alternative with longevity and sustainability vs. steroid injections.”
